About me
David is currently an Associate Professor of History at Northwestern University and director of NU's Crown Family Center for Jewish and Israel Studies. He received his BA, MA, and PhD from the University of Pennsylvania, and he studied for several years at Yeshivat Har Etzion. His research focuses on medieval Jewish cultural and intellectual history, with a particular emphasis on Jewish engagement with the natural world, the history of halakhah, and interfaith relations. His first book, A Remembrance of His Wonders: Nature and the Supernatural in Medieval Ashkenaz (2017) was awarded the John Nicholas Brown Prize by the Medieval Academy of America. He is also deeply engaged in adult education and interfaith dialogue in the Chicagoland area.
David is also a member of WGF/DS Class 18.
