I'm a leadership scholar, teacher, and Executive Coach. I teach at MIT Sloan and Brown University and help senior leaders become more effective through behavioral change. I trained at Harvard with psychologists Howard Gardner (multiple intelligence), David Perkins (cognition and education), and Robert Kegan (adult development), where I also worked as an instructor and researcher on leadership in complex contexts. I am currently working on a book with psychiatrist and MacArthur Fellow Jonathan Shay about the role of leadership in causing psychological and moral injury, a term coined by my co-author. In general, my research and teaching explore how we, as leaders, undermine ourselves and what we can do about it. My Jewish Communal interests have including federation, camping, synagogues, day schools, and adult education. I live in Newton, MA and we have 4 daughters who are now young adults. I am a former entrepreneur and family-office investor. I am also a conservatory-trained percussionist and drummer. I can be reached at
